My first Doberman, Boss moved in at the age of 14 months in May of 1976. He just about taught me all I ever needed to know about this breed, or rather he really tried . He was the first male dog I had ever had of any breed, and the only red Dobe I have owned to this point. Boss was quite a chauvinist, choosing my friends for me and being very picky about it all. I lost him in October of 1986 to complications of arthritis, just weeks before my only Doberman litter was whelped. One of those puppies, Sid (see his memorial here), at the age of 4 weeks, told me that Boss had sent him. Just like that. “Boss sent me”. I believed it then, I believe it now. This was my first clear experience with animal communication.
